BIOGRAPHY

Catherine Harris-White (SassyBlack) is a multifaceted creative force with a focus in the musical, performing and literary arts. This Goddess of “psychedelic soul” & “hologram funk” explores sound through deep electronic compositions. A graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, she has been studying music and its effects on the human condition since she was a young girl. Having fostered a thriving solo career, she has been writing, composing, and producing all of her music since 2014.

Along with her music, which has been featured on Adult Swim, BET’s Twenties as well as the Michelle Obama Spotify Playlist Vol. 1, TNT’s CLAWS her acting prowess has been featured on HBO’s Vinyl and Comedy Central’s Broad City.  As a writer, she has written interviews, reviews and opinion pieces for CRACK Magazine (UK), Sound Fly’s Fly Paper, Okayplayer, Tom Tom Magazine and Seattle Weekly. 

With a decade of touring the world and releasing music independently under her belt, Sassy has expanded into other aspects of the music industry including teaching, cultivating artist partnerships and consulting. Sassy is currently working a few projects that warm her soul including, a three year commission at the John F. Kennedy Center, her first musical Emerald Jett and her position as Music Director for Microsoft’s flagship events. In her role as Music Director, Sassy’s vision is to “evolve the sonic ID of the Event Broadcasting System” by creating thought provoking and soul engaging musical experiences.
